Before actually explaining an articulate proposal in which i aim to abide to, i will simply lay out words in which i feel are relevant and of inspiration to my project.
-Time Lapse
- Photo Sequence
- Narrative
- Natural Causes
- Life and death
- Change/Stasis
- Identity
- Seeing photos as an attempt to resist death and decay
- Using Time lapse to document change (or not)
- Motion/Suggestion/Movement
I would add to this list:
ReplyDeleteRhythm, tempo, counterpoint: Change vs. stasis
Every example you've identified gets its narrative and aesthetic power from the difference between things that (seem to) stay the same and things that change. I especially liked the "story" of the guy who took his self-portrait every day for for 8 years; the "essential identity" and the position of the eyes remains the same throughout, whilst everything else bounces back and forth between two extremes: scary hairy hippie vs. clean-cut average joe. Loved that the scary hairy hippy he was always waiting to be eventually won out;)
I particualrly liked the self portrait every day for 8 years aswell- it has inspired me me to put together some portrait images of myself aswell, where i have been experimenting by overlapping my face a few times resulting in very interesting final images.. i will upload these soon. I also like the word you suggested 'stasis' meaning.. "a period or state of inactivity or equilibrium" This describes what i have been looking at quite well so far..
